We had the pleasure of taking the college students of ours to Zion National Park recently. With schedules so crazy, we ended up going to Zion twice in the span of a week! Once with my oldest daughter and her boyfriend who came back from CSU for a quick visit and the next week with my youngest son and his girlfriend who were going on an epic week of travel with us to Zion, Yosemite, and then on to Santa Cruz, California.
I will post more about the latter part of that trip, but for now I want to focus on Zion. It truly is one of the most beautiful places on the planet! For the first time Zionist, we recommend coming in on the east side entrance. There you can get a pretty lovely first view of Zion by parking just before the tunnel at Canyon Overlook Trail. It is a short hike with a few stairs and some climbing, but you will get some initial views that are stunning. We also saw some bighorn sheep right along the road!
Once inside Zion, there are many adventures to be had, you merely need to stop anywhere that piques your interest and explore. There are some incredible hikes, one of which is called Angel’s Landing which was one of the more treacherous and challenging hikes, but well worth the view at the top!
We plan on spending more time in Zion so stay tuned for future details. In the meantime, enjoy the photos from Flash’s first voyage into a national park!
